For Mom

My mom is constantly reminding me and my brothers and sister about the importance of food storage. For example, last Christmas we all got a bottle of molasses. The year before we got a huge bag of beans. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it. I mean food storage is tough. Who has the storage space to collect a years worth of food for 4 people?!

Levi and I have been trying to clean out our garage for quite sometime. Everything from our basement was out there while we finished the basement. Somehow, we were both motivated to do it today. Why am I writing this? To show you the following picture. Holy cow! I had know idea we had this much.

There are 54 cans of food. Who knew! I had no idea we had that many boxes of food. Getting it all on shelves helped us realize how much there is. Now I have 2 problems. Some of it really old (1999), no idea how long I can keep it. The second, ummm, does anyone know how to use red wheat, dry milk, and pinto beans?

As far as the garage goes, we made a huge dent, but it is amazing how much we (okay, mostly Levi) can accumulate in 10 years. That being said, he got rid of a lot of stuff. A huge accomplishment for him. Well, someone may have been standing over his shoulder while he went through stuff, but still, he did a great job!

Our New Family Fun

The boys and I decided we would get Levi Guitar Hero for Father's Day. I thought it would be a great thing for the boys and Levi to do together. Little did I know. I had never played before, and I probably should have kept it that way. I was right that the boys and Levi have a great time playing. Cort even hits a few notes when he strums or holds down one of the keys. Luke is fantastic. Why is it a 7 year old can play that well? Levi has played before and picked it up quickly. I however, was not so good. But, I did not give up. No, instead of stopping when I couldn't hit a note, I kept trying. I should have stopped. Now I'm addicted. Last night after work I went down around 9:30. I was planning on playing for 30 min or so. After telling myself I would only play one more song over and over, I finally made it to bed around 1:30 in the morning. Does anyone know of a support group?

Not just another Father's Day

I'm not usually one who appreciates what I call the "days that were made just so you have to buy a gift" holidays. To me, these holidays were made up by some smart business person to up sales at particular times of the year. Like Valentine's Day. If it weren't for the day, why would anyone spend hundreds of dollars on chocolate and flowers in the middle of the winter. I often feel the same way about Mother's Day and Father's Day. This year however, Father's Day has a new meaning to me. With Levi being gone over the last year, our family was given an opportunity to realize how much a father is needed in our home. With Levi home, the boys have been able to do quite a few things that I just don't do with them. For example, just this week they went fishing and on a father/son camp out in Oak City. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind doing any of these things, I'm just not as good at it. Fishing is great and all, it's the gutting and cooking part that I don't like. Levi is great at it. Camping is fun too, but always better when your dad is around. So, on this Father's Day, I wanted to make a list of just a few of the things we love about Levi.

**You are such a great Dad. You are willing to get down and dirty with your boys. Without you as their Dad, my kids would never know what a rodeo is, they wouldn't get to ride horses, or do a little muttin' bustin'.

**Without you, the boys would never get to hunt (i haven't decided if this is good or bad).

**I love the way you can make us all laugh. You are able to have the boys laughing with just a look or some weird boy noise.

**I love that you are so willing to spend time with Luke and Cort. You will take them with you where ever you may be going.

**I love to watch the boys respond to you. Their little faces light up when you ask them to play catch or the wii. They are out the door or down the stairs before we can blink.

**You let me sleep in, a lot.
**You are amazing and are usually willing to help out with stuff around the house. I love that you will do laundry or help pick up.

**I love how you love your family. It's so great that your family is so important to you. Since you have been home, it is one of the things I have noticed the most. You spend more time with us then ever before.

**I love that you can fix almost anything around the house. It sure saves us a whole lot of money!!!

**Simply, I love you and am very grateful to have married you. You are a great Dad and the boys love you more than you could ever know!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY LEVI!!!

Just a Ramblin' On!

I have wanted to put a post up for a couple of days, but have been too tired. I know, it's a lame excuse, but the truth. You would think after spending 4 1/2 days in St. George, I would be carefree and well rested. I think I may have stayed up too late reading, scrapbooking, eating out, going on diet coke runs, and doing a whole lot of nothing. It was fantastic. Oh, and did I mention there were no kids involved in the trip! That pretty much sums up the entire trip. It was a much needed break. And of course, I always have a great time with the cousins. I wonder if they get tired of being called "the cousins"? I think if Levi would have been gone another month, I may have reached a breaking point. But, he's home and so I ran away for a bit.

I went back to work today after a whole week off (seriously, a week!). I have decided that being crazy busy is now the norm. It never stops. I try to remind myself that pregnant women make for good job security. Too bad we can't equally spread out delivery times, emergencies, admissions, surgery, transports, and whatever else may role in to the unit. It sure would make my life easier if things didn't happen all at once, and you know, it is all about me. ;) Many more thoughts of what I can write have floated in and out of my mind today, but for now this is all I have come up with. I have realized I am rambling on, so, I am now done. I don't want to really embarrass myself!

I almost forgot, we finally picked up our new car. LOVE IT!!!
